Members of the New York State Academy of Family Physicians (NYSAFP) delegation attending the 2026 American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) Family Medicine Advocacy Summit recently participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery.
The ceremony, held on June 14, 2026, honored the service and sacrifice of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces.
The tradition was established in 2024 when then-NYSAFP President Andrew Symons, MD, and NYSAFP EVP/CEO Vito Grasso presented a wreath on behalf of the Academy. Since then, the ceremony has served as a meaningful opportunity for NYSAFP leaders to pay tribute to those who have served our nation.
Representing NYSAFP at this year’s ceremony were:
- Wayne Strouse, MD – President
- Ani Bodoutchian, MD – President-Elect
- Christine Doucet, MD – Immediate Past President and Alternate AAFP Delegate
- Vito Grasso, MPA – CEO
- Ray Ebarb, MD – MSSNY Delegate and Past President
- Barbara Keber, MD – AAFP Delegate and Past President
- Zelda Blair, MD
- Katherine Eisenberg, MD
- Clyde Satterly, MD
- Sarah Minney, MD
The Family Medicine Advocacy Summit brings family physicians from across the country together to advocate for policies that strengthen primary care and improve patient care. While in Washington, DC, NYSAFP delegates met with policymakers and participated in advocacy activities on behalf of New York family physicians.
NYSAFP is honored to continue this tradition of remembrance and gratitude while representing New York family physicians on the national stage.
Honoring their service. Remembering their sacrifice.
