Budget Extender Bill Introduced
Final budget negotiations between the Governor and Legislature have stalled due to disputes over enacting the Governor’s proposed auto insurance reforms, delaying implementation of the State’s Climate law for emission reduction, or increasing taxes on high earners. As a result, Governor Hochul sent a Budget Exender (attached–Program Bill #26 – Provides for emergency appropriation for the period through April 16, 2026.) to the Legislature this evening, a budget extender providing emergency appropriations to continue government spending until April 16th.
