5th Budget Extender Bill Introduced
Final budget negotiations between the Governor and Legislature remain stalled due to disputes over enacting the Governor’s proposed auto insurance reforms, delaying implementation of the State’s Climate law for emission reduction, potential tax increases and other issues.
As a result, Governor Hochul sent a Budget Extender (attached–Program Bill #28), which provides for emergency appropriations of funds for the period through April 22, 2026, to the Legislature this evening. The bill has been introduced (S9963, Serrano/A11010, Pretlow) and we expect both houses to pass it tomorrow.
