Scholarships Available
38th annual National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students
May 1 Deadline for AAFP - The 38th annual National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students will be held July 28-30 in Kansas City. Information about the 2011 National Conference Scholarship Program (category descriptions, award criteria and application forms) is available. The $600 scholarship is intended to help reduce out-of-pocket expenses to attend the conference. Over 100 residents and students benefit from this program each year. Questions? If you are not chosen for the AAFP funding, you may apply for NYSAFP Funding - June 1 Deadline
The NYSAFP will provide financial support for five (5) residents and five (5) students from New York to attend the National Conference of Residents and Medical Students, July 28 – July 30, 2011 in Kansas City, MO. The NYSAFP will provide up to $500 each to five qualified resident members of the NYSAFP and five qualified student members.

Resident Match Results
The AAFP has distributed the news release, "Family Medicine Gains 133 U.S. Medical School Graduates in 2011 Residency Match," sharing the good news about the 2011 Match results to members of the news media across the country. The release includes links to a comprehensive media kit about the Match, primary care physician workforce, medical education and other issues affecting the family physician workforce.

Ellis Residency Chapter in Schenectady, NY, Celebrates First Anniversary
It was more than a year ago that an Ellis Family Medicine resident, Dr. Nosa Aigbe, started talking to his colleagues about the importance of getting more involved with current issues affecting family practitioners, particularly Health Care Reform. At the AAFP National Conference in Denver, he had an opportunity to meet some of the Board of Directors of the NYSAFP and get more information about different ways to become more involved.
