Nominations for Family Doctor of the Year

11/20/2011
It is time once again to nominate persons from the New York State Chapter for "Family Doctor of the Year."

Any family physician in the state of New York may be nominated by his/her peers, patients, family, friends, or by himself/herself.  Nominees must be licensed to practice in the state and must be a member of the New York State Chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Nominees are evaluated on the basis of length of time in practice, Board Certification/Recertification by the American Board of Family Medicine, Fellowship in the American Academy, as well as area of practice, whether academic or clinical.  Other factors considered include both who nominated the physician and the number of nominations received for that individual.  Past or present office in the New York State Chapter is also given consideration, as well as activities as a preceptor, resident training, publications, and clinical research.

In addition, strong consideration is given to community service, activities in the state medical societies and professional associations, and public service.  Family, religious, and philanthropic activities are also given credit in the selection process.

After all of this information is received about the various nominees, a Committee of the Board of Directors will review the information and select the Family Doctor of the Year for New York State.  This individual is also then nominated by the New York State Academy for the American Academy of Family Physicians’ Family Doctor of the Year Award.

NOMINATION LETTERS SHOULD BE SENT TO VITO F. GRASSO, MPA, CAE, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, BY NOVEMBER 20th, 2011.
